About

"Will Schofield’s blog is quite possibly the richest source of book-related design and illustration in the universe. Will displays the fervour of the most dedicated historian whilst time and again proving he has an eye for exceptional images." —David Pearson

Read Steven Heller's May 2011 write-up of 50 Watts on his Atlantic blog

From 2007 to early 2011 I blogged as "A Journey Round My Skull." I tried to kill that unruly pseudonym in February 2011 and imported most of the 700+ posts into my new home 50 Watts. In December 2011, I revived A Journey Round My Skull as more of a personal blog and scrapbook. 50 Watts will continue on its breezy course of world domination.—Will Schofield (12/12/2011)

3:AM Blog of the Year 2010 award winner (as AJRMS), along with the infinitely-better Dangerous Minds.

The name "50 Watts" has something to do with Charlie Watts, Beckett's Watt, Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, Naomi Watts in Mulholland Drive, dim light bulbs, riots, cheap amps, chaos theory, and the friend who threatened violence if I didn't drop my old moniker.
My so-called "logo" comes from a K & E advertisement on the back cover of a Gebrauchsgraphik magazine, May 1967. If you know who might have designed it, get in touch.
